Here's a point structure I'd like better:
Bonus rounds: 10 points per prompt up to 10 prompts (100). 50 points per fill for first 10 fills (500). then 25 per fill for the next 10 (250). then 10 points for the next 15 (150). fill cap is 35 works.
^ this makes it much easier to get points during the bonus rounds and makes it silly not to shoot for 10 fills even if you have a small team! It also makes maximum points achievable for mid-size teams. Jokerkind had 8ish active members through most of HSWC and we still only maxed out 50 fills twice I think?
Main rounds: Submit anything and you get 250. Advance to final round and you get a second 250. Then an extra 50 points each place up to 1st. So 11th place gets 500, 1st place gets 1000. --> same value as maxing a bonus round, right? And collab round would be worth double that (500 for participation, 1000 for 11th, 2000 for 1st).

That makes all the scores a LOT closer through the entire competition. Fewer teams get discouraged partway through and drop because there's no way they can catch up. Puts emphasis on bonus rounds where enthusiasm and effort = points, even if you don't think your fic or your art are great you get points for filling requests and making people happy and doing! stuff! and practicing! isn't that the point of HSWC, to get people to do stuff? For '''prompts:''' 5 points each (maximum of 50 points per team)
Line 43: Line 53:
So that's my thoughts on points. For '''fills:'''

 * First 3 fills by your team in each bonus round: 30 points each
 * Fills 4-8: 25 points each
 * Fills 9-13: 20 points each
 * Fills 14-18: 15 points each
 * Fills 19-23: 10 points each
 * Fills 24-35: 5 points each (max of 500 points per team in total)
 * Fills 36+ are not for points, but purely for fun!

=== Main Round Scoring vs. Bonus Round Scoring ===
Main Rounds last roughly one month, and Bonus Rounds are posted every two weeks (or, there are roughly two bonus rounds per month). Based on this, two maxed out bonus rounds (or, a solid month of team effort) is worth very slightly more than placing first in a main round (or, a solid month of team effort). Main rounds are important, and they shouldn't be neglected, but bonus rounds can make a huge difference in the rankings too! It's worth it to your team to pay attention to both sides of the event whenever possible.
