These are shorter pieces, one to three pages in length. Most of them are incomplete fragments of prose which are interesting primarily to see how I write in quick bursts. Some of them are actually kind of cool though. I have tried to keep the archive here limited to the ones I think are at least kind of cool.
amanda January 2003 Imagine a world where everything is made out of broken glass. Now imagine that the author is in a really creepy and disturbing mood. Let the fun begin!
bicyclist November 2002 My professor looked at me really funny for this one.
boy October 2003 This was a ten-minute impression of a photograph of a bunch of Kim's friends. Apparently in real life they were all happy.
colette February 2002 I had to write a sketch in the style of Colette and so I wrote it about two of my friends. See if you can guess who they are!
colors October 2003 Another ten minute impression of a photograph. I did a bunch of these, but only two of them were good enough to put here. It's a fun exercise, try it!
cupboard January 2003 I was going through a broken glass phase. What can I say?
dream 1 October 2003 A dream one of my characters might have had. I'm not sure it matches the way her character is growing but I really like it.
dream 2 November 2003 I actually had a dream sort of like this once; it ended with a birthday party for Wassaf.
Ella and the Orange September 2003 Trying to explore the art school characters further.
Foxy Day, part 1 November 2006 I should not be allowed the use of words. This was a party invitation.
Foxy Day, part 2 November 2006 Further evidence that I should not be allowed the use of words.
Janice November 2003 Poor girl...
Jean and Lucie and the Orange December 2003 This is fun, I should do more of these.
Leather and Pornography in America February 2007 So someone was asking in a very scholarly context about the origins of leather and pornography in America. Instead of going to work, I wrote this in response. (then, of course, I went to work)
lunch Fall 2001 A sketch I did for class, nominally in the style of Joyce. I like it.
monologue December 2003 Monologue supposed to be from the narrator of ``visiting hours,'' which I have't put on the web. This narrator is younger; I need to go off in a corner with this character and figure out exactly what his deal is.
outsider September 2001 The first sketch I wrote at MIT!
postcard September 2003 Story written entirely on the back of a postcard. My God did my hand hurt.
sex November 2003 My professor wanted me to write a sex scene, so I did. It's creepy, be warned. At least it's not Ki's response to the assignment, which was "Furry Star Trek erotic fan fiction."
voice October 2003 It didn't come out how I wanted it to, but I revised it some and I still like the idea. I wish I could draw it.
walk September 2003 I like rain too much, and I am too angsty.
